Sander Sittig was born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in 1961. He studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory under Jan Wijn. After graduation he continued his studies under Naum Grubert, Willem Brons and Eugene Indjic and took master classes with Menahem Pressler, Charles Rosen and Yevgeni Malinin. After winning prizes at the international piano competitions of Rome, Palm Beach, Epinal and Eindhoven he started a career that took him all over Europe and other continents, performing a wide range of repertoire; piano concertos, solo recitals and chamber music.

Sander Sittig has recorded solo (compositions by Mozart) and chamber music CD’s. He is best known, however, as the partner of famous violinists, such as Shlomo Mintz, Ilya Grubert, Liza Ferschtman and Maria Milstein. He also frequently appears at festivals such as Marienbad Nocturnes, The Violins of Hope (Charlotte, NC) and New Masters on Tour (Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Bratislava, Budapest) and is official pianist at competitions like the Sion International Violin Competition and the Boris Goldstein Competition (Berne).

In 2015 the first CD of Sander Sittig’s collaboration with violinist Benjamin Scherer Quesada was released. During the year he gave several solo recitals all over the Netherlands and made a tour of Italy with prize winning violinist Aylen Pritchin. He showed many aspects of himself during the Huberman Project in Israel, in which he performed chamber music and taught solo and duet master classes. In violinist Rudolf Koelman’s recidency at Arnhem’s Musis Sacrum concert hall he was invited to perform trios by Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Brahms.

In 2016 Sander Sittig will perform in the Styriarte festival (Graz, Austria) and in recitals in Italy with violinist Shlomo Mintz. He will be collaborating at Crans-Montana Classics (Switzerland) and isa2016 (Austria) and give recitals and chamber concerts in Amsterdam and Rotterdam with cellist Pieter Wispelwey and other leading Dutch musicians.

Sander Sittig lives in Amsterdam and teaches chamber music, piano accompaniment and artistic research at the Rotterdam Conservatory. He is a collaborator at summer academies like Suonarte (Italy) and The International Holland Music Sessions, as well as at iClassical Academy, an organization that distributes master classes through the Internet.

Nog tijdens zijn studie debuteerde hij in het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam en De Doelen in Rotterdam. Na het winnen van prijzen op diverse internationale pianoconcoursen begon een carrière die hem door heel Europa en daarbuiten voerde.

Sander Sittig heeft solorecitals gegeven in het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, de Doelen in Rotterdam en op talrijke andere podia in binnen- en buitenland. Hij heeft als solist opgetreden bij orkesten in Nederland, Spanje en de Tsjechische Republiek. Bovenal geniet hij echter een grote reputatie als kamermuziekspeler. Hij treedt op met violisten als Shlomo Mintz, Ilya Grubert, Liza Ferschtman en Benjamin Scherer Quesada. Een CD met deze laatste werd in 2015 op de markt gebracht. In dat jaar maakte hij verder een tournee door Italië met violist Aylen Pritchin, winnaar van het Concours Jacques Thibaud in Parijs. Veel verschillende aspecten van zichzelf toonde hij tijdens het Huberman Project (Israël), waar hij concerten gaf en masterclasses gaf in solistisch en kamermuziekrepertoire. In Musis Sacrum (Arnhem) vertolkte hij drie pianotrio’s met artist-in-residence Rudolf Koelman en cellist Raphael Wallfisch.

In 2016 concerteert Sander Sittig op het Styriarte Festival in Graz (Oostenrijk) met Shlomo Mintz, met wie hij ook recitals in Italië en Israël zal geven. Verder zal hij te horen zijn in het Nocturnes Festival van Marianske Lazne (Tsjechische Republiek) en isa2016 in Semmering (Oostenrijk).

Sander Sittig maakte CD’s als solist (werken van Mozart) en kamermuziekspeler en trad veelvuldig op voor radio en televisie. Hij is als pianist verbonden aan The International Holland Music Sessions (Bergen), Crans-Montana Classics (Zwitserland), iClassical Academy (internet-masterclasses), de Boris Goldstein Violin Competition (Bern) en diverse andere masterclasses en zomeracademies.

Sander Sittig woont in Amsterdam en is als docent kamermuziek en pianobegeleiding verbonden aan het Rotterdams Conservatorium.
